Effective Uses of VideoThese sites show ways in which video can be used to present content, dramatic scenarios and footage from remote locations. Users may require Quicktime Player, Real Player, Windows Media Player or Flash depending on the format of the video. Archaeology Channel - Features online video documentaries of archaeological sites around the world. Reworking Picasso's The Tragedy - A Video showing how Picasso altered an older painting and turned it into The Tragedy. Interview with Latin Amercan Executives - A series of Spanish language videos in which executives explain cultural norms to students outside of Latin America. Includes English and Spanish transcripts. Langmedia Everyday Language Series - This web site includes videos which illustrate everyday situations from around the world. Audio and Video Archives - Some snippets from BBC productions are available online. National Geographic Crittercam - Taped segments taken of various animals in the wild. Class ProjectsThe Penn State Media Commons facility supports instructors in incorporating video assignments into their course work. Sociology 5: Creating a Public Service Announcement Video - Students in this version of the course are placed in groups of five and assigned to participate in a group volunteer service project and then create a 1-2 minute public service announcement (PSA) based on the issue the group is focusing on. Art 3: Visual Images on the Web - Students are placed into teams and are required to create a video based on a series of film motifs.
